News from Father Emeric: Food delivery for Mananjary (video)

Two weeks after receiving a large quantity of supercharged rice – MannaPack rice chartered with the help of the Madagascar Foundation, Father Emeric decided to organize an emergency delivery to help the victims of Mananjary. This city on the east coast of Madagascar was hard hit by Cyclone Freddy, which caused extensive material and human damage.

Aware of the urgency of the situation, Father Emeric mobilized a team of volunteers to organize the distribution of these food rations to the families most affected by the disaster. The delivery of super-vitamin rice provided essential nutrients to the victims, who needed strength to face the difficulties of the situation.

Call for help for the village of Mananjary in Madagascar!

In Madagascar 🇲🇬, in the northeast village of Mananjary, residents are facing a difficult situation. Last year, they were hit hard by cyclone 🌪 Batsiray which caused a lot of damage and loss of life. Unfortunately, things haven’t improved since then, as they were hit again this year by Cyclone Freddy, which worsened their already precarious situation.

The inhabitants of Mananjary are in great difficulty and are doing everything to recover from the damage caused by the two successive cyclones. Houses have been destroyed, roads are impassable, infrastructure is damaged, and residents have lost many essential resources, such as their crops.

Their situation is critical, and they need help to get back on their feet. Humanitarian organizations and volunteers are already working on the spot to provide them with aid and resources, but the task is immense and the needs are immense.

It is important to remember that the people of Mananjary are not alone in their suffering, as many communities around the world are affected by similar natural disasters. We must all come together to help them and offer them our support. Together, we can help rebuild their homes, their communities, and their hope for a better future.

A 27-year-old man drowned near the port of Manahoro on the east coast, reports the official bulletin of the national disaster office. About 8,000 people were evacuated from flood-prone areas.

The eye of the cyclone passed 30 kilometers north of the town of Mananjary where winds of 130 km/h were recorded, with gusts of 180. Mananjary had already been devastated by two cyclones last year. The balance sheet is not yet more precise.

We were able to reach Doctor Firoze Koytcha, who is leading the humanitarian medical mission of Indian Ocean doctors, he is in Ambositra, on Freddy’s path at the moment. He confirms that there was a lot of wind and rain, but no cataclysm at first sight.

Freddy will emerge in the Mozambique Channel this Wednesday evening and perhaps strengthen before touching Mozambique on Thursday evening. “This cyclone is really a mess,” said Reunion’s weather director.

Little Norfolk Nebraska is the Hub

Orphan Grain Train’s National Office is the hub around which all Orphan Grain Train activity revolves. While the other 28 branch and collection center locations around the country are all volunteer workers, the national office employs 19 dedicated workers. These employees accomplish the task of arranging for international and domestic transportation of relief supplies for all of our locations. Daily they work with customs officials, keep track of inventory, bookkeeping records, update promotional material and all other tasks needed to support the work of the satellite locations.
